This course will help you get a FETAC qualification and a job by providing you with:

  • an online learning course with the support of a tutor on your mobile,
  • a personal Job Coach, and
  • help getting a work placement and finding a job

Are there any exams?

There are no exams on this course. You get your qualification by doing the course-work online, at your own pace with telephone tutor support.

What subjects can I chose from?

There are lots of subjects to choose from. You must finish at least one of the 14 FETAC qualifications listed here:

  • Digital Media
  • Internet Skills
  • Career Preparation
  • Health and Safety Awareness
  • Managing Personal Finances
  • Communications
  • Event Participation
  • Mathematics
  • Application of Numbers
  • Functional Maths
  • Personal and Interpersonal Skills
  • Personal Effectiveness
  • Computer Literacy

How long does the course last?

You decide what and when you want to learn. The project (course and work placement) lasts for nine months. During this time you do the qualifications on a computer with help from a tutor. Depending on how you get on, you may finish it sooner. If you feel that your reading, writing or maths skills are holding you back, we help with that too and over the 9 months you can work towards a full FETAC Level 3 Award, which is Junior Cert level.

How do I get help finding a job?

To help you find a job, you will have your own Job Coach. They will work with you on your job skills and support you find and complete a work placement.

During the 9 months, you will also meet other young people who are doing the same course. You will meet in small groups and learn new skills together like writing great CVs, interview and presentation skills.

Your Job Coach will help you at every step and increase your confidence. Together, you will create your own learning and employment plan with support to find a job or move onto further education or training.
