Since September, 2008 NALA’s web site www.writeon.ie has offered independent learners an opportunity to study content at FETAC Level 2 and to work towards accreditation if desired. Since then, many adults from all over the country have used the site to work on their reading, writing, listening, speaking, numbers and technology skills. 20 learners engaged with the site to and achieved 91 minor awards. Seven of these learners achieved the Level 2 Certificate in General Learning.
The site is intended for independent learners but increasingly practitioners from all over Ireland have been in touch about how to support their learners who decide to use the site to complement centre-based learning. In response to demand, we have decided to hold another training day in Dublin on 2nd December, 2009. Two sessions will be delivered to offer an update to those who attended last year and also to offer an opportunity to others to learn about the website www.writeon.ie. The training is free. The morning session is aimed at individuals and organisations who want to get general information about the website. The afternoon session, which will be held in the computer laboratory, is for practitioners who want to learn the specifics about using the website. An outline of the programme is provided below.
Due to some of the more practical aspects of the training, we have to limit numbers of attendees for the morning session to the first 45 applicants and the afternoon session to the first 50 applicants who reply through our online events booking system. To ensure maximum support, we would ask organisations to only send one representative to the event.
To get the most from the day, please take the time to explore the site in advance of the training. Feel free to create you own learner password.
