It’s time for Ireland to vote for a new President
Did you know that there will be an election for a new President of Ireland in just a few weeks time? Current President Michael D. Higgins has come to the end of his second term as President and voting will take place on 24 October to elect the new first citizen of our country.
Have you questions about the Presidential Election in Ireland?
If yes, then this webinar is for you, if you are aged 18 years or over and are developing your reading, writing, maths, or digital skills:
- in an adult literacy centre, or as part of another programme (for example a National Learning Network, Community Training Centre or Youthreach); or
- with NALA’s over the phone Tutoring Service, or the Learn with NALA website.
What will happen at the webinar?
We will learn together about:
- how to register to vote
- the role of the President in Ireland and
- how your values will help you decide who to vote for.
You do not need to prepare anything before the webinar.
NALA is organising this webinar with the Dublin Adult Learning Centre (DALC).
DALC delivers an Active Citizen Voter Education Programme with adult and community groups. They believe everyone’s voice should be heard for a fair, just and equal society and exercising your right to vote is essential to this. Fionnaigh Connaghton and Sinéad Hawkins from DALC will facilitate this webinar with support from Margaret Murray in NALA.
