NALA membership

Empowering every adult in Ireland to read, write and thrive

1 in 5 adults* in Ireland struggles with literacy. Together, we can change that—so everyone has the skills to thrive in life and society.

Join NALA as a member today!

National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) members:

  • receive regular updates about developments in literacy in Ireland and our activities;
  • can vote at our Annual General Meeting;
  • get a 10% discount on our plain English editing and training service (Organisational members only);
  • support our work and advocacy; and
  • give us insights and feedback to inform our work.

Types of NALA membership

NALA has 2 types of membership:

1. The Individual membership fee is €25 per year.

Join Now: Individual Membership Form

We can also offer individuals free membership. As a charity organisation, membership subscription fees are an important income stream. An active and growing membership community is equally important to NALA. If you are unable at this time to cover the €25 annual fee then we are happy to provide you with a free membership so you can still be part of our member community.

2. Organisation membership: We have two types:

  • Local organisations membership fee is €50 per year.

Those that work at local level such as Adult Literacy Centres, Youthreach centres, National Learning Network local centres, local non-profit organisations and city libraries. Join Now: Local Organisation Membership Form

  • Larger organisations membership fee is €150 per year.

Those that work at a county, regional, national or international level such as Education and Training Boards, county libraries, larger non-profit organisations and corporate members. Join Now: Large Organisation Membership Form

NALA membership subscription year runs from 1 February – 31 January.

We offer a pro-rata membership to new members who join from 1st July. Contact the membership team directly to arrange.
