NALA members:
- Receive regular updates about developments in literacy in Ireland and our activities;
- can vote at our Annual General Meeting;
- get a 10% discount on our plain English editing and training service (Organisational members only);
- support our work and advocacy, and
- give us insights and feedback to inform our work;
Types of NALA membership
NALA has 2 types of membership:
1. The Individual membership fee is €25 per year. We can also offer individuals free membership – please reach out to request your fee to be waived.

2. Organisations can join from €50 per year. We have two types of organisational membership for:
- Local organisations membership fee is €50 per year.
Those that work at local level such as Adult Literacy Centres, Youthreach centres, National Learning Network local centres, local non-profit organisations and city libraries.
- Larger organisations membership fee is €50 per year.
Those that work at a county, regional, national or international level such as Education and Training Boards, county libraries, larger non-profit organisations and corporate members.

NALA membership subscription year runs from 1 February – 31 January.
We offer pro-rata membership depending on which month you join. Pro-rata fees are outlined in the membership form. Contact the team if you have a query regarding your membership fee.
How do I join as a member?
Fill in the relevant online application form below
If you need an invoice, you can tell us this on the form.
You can also tell us how you want to pay. We accept, card payment, bank transfer or cheques.
Once we receive the form, we will contact you with details of the fee and instructions on how to pay.

What is the difference between being a Member and Supporter?
A Member has the following legal responsibilities:
- to pay a maximum of €1.00 towards any debts that NALA has if it must close operations,
- to agree to a Code of Conduct. View or download the NALA Code of Conduct,
- must pay the membership fee, or have it waived,
- can take part in events, meetings and surveys to give their views, and
- can vote at those meetings.
A Supporter:
- does not have any legal responsibilities;
- does not have to pay a membership fee;
- can donate to support NALA services.

NALA membership is of 12 months duration. All memberships will renew on 1 February of each year. Members will receive renewal reminders in advance of their membership expiring.
