NALA is currently co-ordinating a research and development project on the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in adult literacy services. It aims to support ETBs to share good practice in inclusion and strengthen their capacity to serve adults with intellectual disabilities.

The project is funded by SOLAS and supported by Education and Training Boards Ireland (ETBI). The research is being carried out by Maynooth University’s Centre for Research in Adult Learning and Education (CRALE). In May, CRALE and NALA are providing three regional workshops for ETBs. The research and the workshops are linked to the ‘Guidelines for inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in adult literacy services’.
