Adult Literacy: What is working and what could work better

NALA invites members to take part in our member-only workshop led by Aoife Crawford, NALAs Research and Policy Officer, to gather your views about adult literacy in Ireland in 2026.

In the workshop, guided by NALA staff, we will explore two questions that will inform our work to improve literacy, numeracy and digital literacy for adults in Ireland.

The event will also provide an opportunity for members to network and connect.

Is there a cost to attend?

No, there is no cost to attend. NALA covers the cost for tea, coffee on arrival, the coffee and tea at the networking break and the lunch.

11 am: A short introduction to adult literacy Ireland in 2026

11.10 am: Workshop 1: What has your experience of adult literacy in Ireland been like over the past year or so?

11.50 am: Networking Break

12.10 pm: Workshop 2: What improvements (big or small) would make a real difference for adults with literacy needs in Ireland?

12.50 pm: Wrap up and next steps

1 pm: Lunch Served

We invite members to stay for our Annual General Meeting which will start at 2pm and finish at 4 pm.

 

What to expect from the AGM:

Hear from our Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Colleen Dube and our Chairperson Margaret Kelly on what’s happening in adult literacy and in NALA. Make your vote count during the meeting, helping us to ensure that our vision, mission and values are promoted, advanced and achieved.
